People are selfish. There isn't one person out there that hasn't done something purely for themselves. It's sad really. Some of them are even tricked by their own minds into thinking they care about others; more than they value their own survival or state of mind. Not one person has felt empathy towards another with authentic emotion siphoned towards how the other is coping with a situation. They only comfort those people, for their own sake; to spare themselves the guilt of doing nothing, the anguish of seeing a loved one is agony.Despite their purest of intentions they empathize to keep their consciences...
clean.

Importance
It's so strange to think how everything in life tends to be important. Despite the most common of thoughts, that single mug of coffee in the morning has an impact on performance for the entire day. It has an impact on how someone starts their day and the way they deal with everyday and ordinary scenarios. Maybe it improves their mood enough to where they are just able to handle the pressure of an argument with their boss without snapping; and saying something they come to regret later. That one cup of coffee in the morning could save them from applying for unemployment. Going to endless job interviews and explaining why they were fired, over and over again, to people they barely know. They could avoid an entire disaster, just by drinking one, insignificant cup of coffee. Months, years even of constantly worrying about scraping up every last cent just to make the next mortgage payment and searching for coupons just so they can afford some milk, just avoided. Because of one caffeinated drink.
That one cup of coffee matters.
It may seem overly silly to think of a hypothetical situation, such as this, while one sits comfortably in the luxury of their own home, sipping their iced tea leisurely and reading an arbitrary blog off of the web just because they have the spare time. However so some people this situation might not be hypothetical. Some people tend to think they feel lucky for what they have, just because they occasionally take time to pity those who have less.
No.
Nothing is amended by pity. Pity helps no one. Realizing that some people have less than most is not an epiphany. In fact, it is possibly one of the most obvious realizations someone could have. Do not pity those who have fewer material items in their possession. Ever. Admire them for their capability in dealing with a strenuous situation, honor their dexterity to adapt when life becomes tough. Recognize the fact that those people accomplish something more in one day than a horrifyingly large amount of people achieve in one month.
